Festive hours – helplines UK

To help you stay connected to essential assistance when you need it most, we’ve curated a comprehensive list of free helplines available throughout Christmas and New Year 2024, including details about their holiday schedules:

1. Mind Infoline

  • Service: Provides information and support for mental health issues.
  • Contact: 0800 123 3393
  • Operating Hours: Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm.
  • Holiday Closures: Closed on December 25 and 26, 2024, and January 1, 2025.

2. Age UK Advice Line

  • Service: Offers advice and information for older people.
  • Contact: 0800 678 1602
  • Operating Hours: 8am to 7pm, every day of the year, including Christmas Day.

 

3. Samaritans

  • Service: Provides emotional support for anyone in distress.
  • Contact: 116 123
  • Operating Hours: 24/7, including all holidays.

 

4. Scope Helpline

  • Service: Offers disability information and advice.
  • Contact: 0808 800 3333
  • Operating Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm; Saturday, 10am to 6pm.

 

  • Holiday Closures:
  • Tuesday 24th December: Closes at 12:30 PM.
  • Friday 27th December: Open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Monday 30th December: Open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Tuesday 31st December: Closes at 12:30 PM.
  • Thursday 2nd January 2025: Reopens for business as usual.

 

6. NHS 111

  • Service: Non-emergency medical help and advice.

7. The Silver Line

  • Service: Provides support and friendship for older people.

  • Operating Hours: 24/7, including all holidays.

8. Shout

  • Service: Confidential 24/7 text service offering support in crisis.
  • Contact: Text ‘SHOUT’ to 85258
  • Operating Hours: 24/7, including all holidays.

9. National Domestic Abuse Helpline

  • Service: Support for women experiencing domestic abuse.
  • Contact: 0808 2000 247
  • Operating Hours: 24/7, including all holidays.

10. Carers UK Adviceline

  • Service: Advice and information for carers.
  • Contact: 0808 808 7777
  • Operating Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm.
  • Holiday Closures: Check with Carers UK for specific holiday hours.
    Disability Rights UK

Carers UK office and email advice service will be closed from 5pm on 20th December and will reopen on 2nd January.

Their free telephone helpline will remain available throughout the festive period. It operates Monday to Friday, 9am – 6pm, on 0808 808 7777, including Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
